Let’s Put It into Practice

Goal: Identify 3 repetitive tasks in your daily workflow that could be optimized or automated using AI.

1.

Ask ChatGPT to create a task tracking table for you

Try a promt like:
Hi! I’m an financial advisor at a small company. Please create an excel spreadsheet that will help me track my recurrent time-consuming tasks. I want one column for the main task, one for the subtask, one with my estimated time, one with the actual time, one with frequency (daily, weekly.. etc.) and another one for notes. Please create the excel file blank, I’ll fill it myself

2.

Download the table and fill it out.

  • Choose 3 tasks you repeat regularly.

  • Estimate how much time you spend on each and how often you do them.

  • Then, perform the tasks as usual—but this time, use a timer to track the actual time they take.

3.

Ask ChatGPT how it could help you optimize each task.

Try a promt like:
“Here you can find 3 tasks I want to made more efficiently using AI tools. Please give me 3 examples of use cases and promt I can use to integrate in my workflow.”

4.

Save this document.

You’ll come back to it in future lessons—it’ll serve as your personal roadmap for integrating AI into your workflow.

No biggie, right?

Now you can try with these two:

Let’s be honest—there’s nothing like having your favorite prompts ready to go when your day gets busy.

Start building your own prompt cheatsheet: a quick-access list of AI commands that work for your tasks, your style, and your workflow. Think of it as your personalized AI assistant, just one scroll away.

💡 How to structure it effectively?

Simple. Organize your prompts by task type (like reports, email replies, expense analysis). Add a note next to each one: what it does, when to use it, and what you usually tweak. Done.

And hey—if you get stuck, confused or overwhelmed…

you already know who to ask for help. 😉

Goal: Experiment with ChatGPT to solve common financial queries and evaluate how helpful it really is in your day-to-day.

Instructions:

  • Go to chat.openai.com and access the free version of ChatGPT.

  • Think of 3 financial questions you often get asked—or that you ask yourself at work.

  • Type each one into ChatGPT and review the responses.

  • For each answer, evaluate:

    1. Accuracy

    2. Clarity

    3. Relevance to your context

    4. What’s missing / what could improve?

  • Reflect on this:
How could this tool help you handle repetitive financial questions faster, better, or with less stress?

  • Examples you can try:

“Explain compound interest in simple terms for someone with no financial background.”

“What are the key indicators to assess a company’s liquidity?”

“How do I explain the difference between a mutual fund and an ETF to a client?”

Common Pitfalls

...And How to Dodge Them Like a Pro

Let's think about it

Here are a few questions to reflect on. Talk them over with your colleagues—sharing ideas can spark new insights and real change.

What aspects of AI do you find most relevant to your daily work?

Which tasks currently take up the most time and could benefit from automation?

What hesitations or doubts do you have about implementing AI in your job?

What specific benefit would most motivate you to adopt AI tools?

Great job today!

You’ve just taken your first step into the world of AI in finance—no small feat! Today, you learned what AI really is (beyond the buzzwords), how it’s already transforming the financial sector, and—most importantly—how you can start using it right now.

Imagine this:

  • Asking an AI to explain a complex financial term like you’re five.

  • Creating a ready-to-use expense analysis template in seconds.

  • Getting ideas for automating those reports that eat up your Fridays.

And that’s just the beginning.

Keep experimenting, keep asking questions, and don’t be afraid to get curious.
See you in the next class—this journey’s just getting started.

See you soon.
